Glacier

Balto and Jenna were sitting calmly on a snowy hill. The moon was unusually bright, and it made the snow shimmer. "Jenna," Balto said. "Isn't it beautiful out?" "Yeah, it's beautiful." Jenna said. Night turned to darkness, and Jenna stood up. "I've got to go. Rosie must be very worried." Jenna ran off without even saying good-bye to Balto. Balto stood up, and watched Jenna run home. He stretched, and saw a movement in the frosty snow. He cocked his head, and said, "Hello?" No answer. He started to pad away, when he heard a muffled noise. He turned around again, and was getting irritated. He growled, and to his surprise, a small pup appeared. A wolf pup. Balto stepped back, and stared at the tiny creature. It was pure white, and it's frosty fur was matted and dirty. Balto stepped closer, and said, "Are you alone? Where's your mom?" He looked around, but saw no parent. He sniffed the pup, then picked it up. He thought to himself, What will Jenna think? This pup is all wolf!! He began to worry, but kept on to Jenna's house. The pup was limp and almost frozen. Balto finally had to set the pup down on the snow, and he looked at it. He began to clean it's fur, and make it look nice so Jenna would want to help it, too. Jenna appeared, and barked. "Balto!! What is that?" Balto dropped his head, and said, "A wolf." Jenna looked carefully at the pup, then to Balto. "You stole it? How could you Balto!! If you wanted pups, all you had to do was tell me!! We-" Balto stopped her by holding up his paw. "No Jenna. It was alone." He licked the pup again, and just then, Jenna's motherly instincts took over. She wrapped herself around the shivering pup, and began to lick it. "Balto...Rosie and her family will never help Glacier." They had found out the wolf was a male, and started calling him Glacier. "But Jenna, we can't just leave him!!" Balto whined. "Balto, life must go on. This pup was not meant for us." She stood up, and left the pup, shivering where she had been. "Come on Balto." She started to walk away. "No Jenna!! I will not leave him! I was just like him when I was little, and I feel his pain." Balto glared at Jenna. "I thought you were better than that Jenna." Balto picked up the pup, and began to run away. Jenna called him back, but he did not listen. He ran to the forest, and stopped at a large pine tree. He nuzzled the pup, and spoke softly to it. "Don't worry. I'll help you." They both fell fast asleep. The next morning was dreary and rainy. Balto opened his eyes, but he was not at the foot of the pine anymore. He was in a cave. He looked up, and before him stood a black and tan wolf. It's ears were bushy, and it's paws were huge. "Welcome Balto. We've been waiting. Come." The wolf started to walk away. Balto looked down at the sleeping Glacier in his paws. He nosed him awake, and followed the wolf.
1 month later, Balto and Glacier were living among the wolves. "Dad?" called Glacier to Balto. Balto looked up and said, "What is it Glacier?" Glacier smiled playfully and the 2 started to play tag. Balto still had not told Glacier he was not his father, but he thought that could wait. "Balto." Called Drago, the lead wolf. It was the same wolf Balto had seen in the cave 1 month ago. Balto padded up to the wolf. Drago nodded over his shoulder. "Someone's here to see you." Balto's blood froze when he saw who it was.
Jenna looked at Balto with teary eyes. "Balto, we need you at home." Balto felt sad, and ran to lick Jenna. Jenna licked back. the 2 nuzzled, and then Glacier appeared. "Dad?" Glacier looked confused. "Dad?" repeated Jenna. "Balto, you are not that wolf's father!!" Glacier turned and ran. Jenna looked at Balto for an explanation. "I never told him," he started. Jenna just nuzzled him again, and said, "Come home." Balto did. He said his good-byes to the wolf pack, and didn't see Glacier. Later that night, Balto heard a strange howl. But he recognized it. It was Glacier. Balto smiled, and new his new "son" would be happy. Balto would always be Glacier's father.
