LION KING
PROLOGUE

Positioning his hands carefully, the shaman then slowly picks Simba up and positions the infant against his shoulder, before granting the king and queen a pleased smile. With the cub held close to his chest, he turns and walks back out onto the promontory. The assembled animals look up with baited breath as the mandrill makes his slow progression along the stone. As he reaches the end, Rafiki then thrusts his arms outwards, presenting the young prince to the crowd.

They animals go wild. The oryx rear up onto their hind legs, the elephant herd trumpets in unison, the monkeys screech excitedly, the zebras bray and stamp their hooves. Then the clouds overheard part, allowing a beam of sunlight to fall upon the shaman and Simba. One by one, the animals kneel down before the young prince, from the great elephants to the tall giraffes. Mufasa and Sarabi move up the promontory to stand behind Rafiki, watching the presentation with a gentle smile. This is the Circle of Life.
