In a comedy sketch called "Evil Barney Babysitter", one kid wanted to watch The Lion King and the other wants to watch Pocahontas. Barney then shows them an inappropiate movie involving Barbie, Ken, and GI Joe.

In the anime "Eden of the East", one character told her friend she saw The Lion King on Broadway.
