I was babysitting this kid next door to me and he asked if he could watch "The Land Before Time 2" and in part of the film, one of the dinosaurs says "Its ok, its part of the great Circle of Life".
I don't know if you could count that as a reference, but...

I'd like to respond to Azanti's post about a character in The Land Before Time 2 saying "circle of life": The original Land Before Time was one of my most beloved films as a child. The "circle of life" phrase was mentioned in that movie--released in 1988. In that respect, they coined the phrase first.
