There's two two literature reference of a guy called Timon, just like our meerkat:

-Timon of Phleios: greek philosopher and satirical poet. Timon wrote a number of mocking poems, in which he poked fun at contemporany and historical dogmatic philosophers.

-Timon of Athens: a legendary misanthrope, mentioned in a comedy of the greek playwright Aristophanes. It's also used as the main character of a William Shakespeare's play "Timon of Athens".
