By Jenna (Jenna591@hotmail.com) Scar Why? Why thought Scar as he lie in the jungle, hiding from his past-friends. Now Scar only wished they'd find him. He had absolutly nothing to live for. No mate, no kingdom, no family. Even if he had been killed by the hyena's, almost no one would've cared. Except of course, the hyenas. They would've had another meal. He didn't know why he'd even tried to escape them. It was a sudden decision, he assumed. He once had a family and friends, but now...nothing. Long ago when they were cubs, Mufasa and Scar were close. Ahadi, their dad, paid much attention to both of them, though slightly more to Mufasa because he was heir to the throne. One time Scar came home early, but didn't go right inside. He knew his parents were discussing 'things'. "Oh honey, are you sure you're okay with having Taka?" Taka being Scars cubhood name. "Yes dear," Ahadi started "even though he wasn't 'planned', why shouldn't I love him?" "Well, you said you definatly didn't want two children." "I know, but I couldn't abandon him or kill him." That was all he needed to hear. He didn't want to listen to his parents talk about how he wasn't meant to even exist. He was a mess-up for his parents. But they did say they loved him. Time went on and mufasa and Scar grew older. They both had manes. This was the setting of Scar's next flashback. Scar was 'going out' with Sarabi's sister, Saziah. Saziah and Sarabi were almost identical, except for Saziah was a shade lighter and had crystal-blue eyes. She was very pretty. Scar had known Saziah for a long time. As cubs, they were best friends, and never thought they would go out. As they grew older, friendship turned to love. They went everywhere together. Whilee they were together, Scar seemed to forget he was a mistake, and he would never be king. They were so in love with each other, they both seemed unconditionally happy. Mufasa was only nice to Scar before Saziah and before he became king. Mufasa became king about a month after Saziah and Scar had been 'dating' for a few months. Mufasa liked to listen in on his younger brother's conversations. One day, he was listnening to Scar and Saziah have a very important conversation. They were discussing if they should have sex and if they should get married. They decided yes to both, and were going to announce their marriage in two weeks. Mufasa thought it would be funny to ruin the relationship with Scar and his girlfriend. Mufasa went up to Saziah and told her that Sarabi had had sex with Scar and told Saziah stuff that Sarabi said about him. Of course, Sarabi had never done that. Scar found out when Saziah told him, "All that stuff Sarabi said about you wasn't true." "Huh?" "Well, Mufasa said that Sarabi said when ya'll had sex--" "What? Me and Sarabi? I never did that!!! You were my first! And I'm happy you were!!" "Oh, I believe you. You were my first too." "Don't tell anything to Mufasa." Scar went to confront Mufasa, and they fought. He told Scar that if he said anything to Sarabi, he would kick him out and he would be exiled, without Saziah knowing where he went. He couldn't afford to loose his love, so he never spoke of it again. Mufasa's attitude changed when he became king. He wasn't 'nice' to Scar..only that little bird and everyone except Scar. Scar didn't pay much attention to mufasa...he was in love! He regretted loosing Saziah so much. It was all his fault though. A few days after that fathful night, Scar found Mufasa totally making out with Saziah. Scar waited to confront his girlfriend until the next morning. That night seemed long for Scar and he was about to burst with madness. The next day finally came. "You, were making out with my brother, Mufasa, last night!" "What?!? Scar, what are you talking about?" "I saw you. Don't even try and deny it." "I was at home last night!" "DON'T LIE TO ME!!!" Their argument got more serious and Scars temper exploded. He made Saziah back off a cliff and she fell off. She broke her neck on a rock and died almost instantly. Scar went home with a sort of sadness but dismissed it with the thought that she would never betray him again. When Scar returned home to confront Mufasa about his 'problem', he found Mufasa and Sarabi talking about what had gon on last night...between each other. Then it struck Scar. The horrible truth that he had killed his girlfriend. If only he'd paid more attention to the fur of Sarabi, he would have noticed. He was so devastated, but there was nothing he could do to change what had happened. He ran to Saziah's body. Her fur was covered in dust and her whiskers were bent. She had blood on her mouth and her front paws. The sharp rocks had not only broken her neck, but cut deeply into her paw. Scar cried into her fur, wishing he had never done it. His heart ached and so did his head. He wished he had someone to confide in, but his father was dead, his mother was captured and taken to the zoo days after Ahadi's death, and Mufasa hated him. There was no one but his thoughts. Thinking of these memories made Scar begin to cry. Happiness first for all his happy memories and then sadness for one of his most crucial mistakes of life. After he had re-gained his composition, he tried to remember how he even had met the hyena's. His mind went blank for a second, then he remembered. After Saziah's death, he ran away, trying to escape the pain. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed had mistaked him for game and began to run out at him..but stopped in their tracks when they realized he was a lion. They noticed he wasn't gonna hurt them, so they went to see why. They talked and they just...became friends. Of course, Scar never told anyone about them until he assumed the throne. Finally, Mufasa pushed Scar too far. He wanted to kill Mufasa. He never told anyone his true reasons though. He really wanted to kill him with his own paws, but he finally decided on a plan. He needed an aliby so he said he wanted to be king. It was slightly true, because he did want more respect, but it wasn't his reasons for murder. Oh that fate-full day. Scar wanted to murder Mufasa badly, but not necessarily Simba. He thought Simba was annoying, but not so much as to kill. It wasn't his fault who's family he was born into. But to keep his saying for wanting to be king true, he had to. When Mufasa was finally gone from this life, Scar felt so much happier. All of his anger was gone and he was finally relazed. He went back to pride rock and broke the news. He said with untrue sorrow that the king and prince were gone. Scar, being a new king, was no good at rationalizing food, especially with so many hyena's not rationalling anything. He wished he could leave and start a new pride with no hyena's. That was a mistake too, letting hyena's come. But, he did promise. Things went downhill from then until Scar met Zira. A lost lioness in need of help. Scar, trying to do something right, let her stay. Zira and Scar talked and became good friends...then more than friends. Zira was Scar's second love. He wondered witch one was true. Saziah or Zira? About two days before Simba came back, Zira came to Scar with a message. "Scar, dear," she began, "I'm pregnant." "Really...I'm a daddy???!!??" "Yes!!!" "This is soooo great!! Zira, this is the best news I've ever heard!" This was one of his happiest moments, though he would never truley 'talk' to Kovu. Ever. Simba came. Scar told Zira and she immediatly told him she would give her life for him. Scar found that very noble. She was not only his subject but also his mate. Scar made her promise to run somewhere safe so she nor his unborn sun would be harmed. He nuzzled her one last time before she ran away. That brings us to now. Scar is all alone and his side is hurting badly. He knew he'd never be able to return to Pride Rock. Simba would kill him, or one of his loyal subjects would. They hated him. Everyone he ruled did, except Zira...and the hyenas. He wished he were up in heaven with Saziah, or with Zira and his 'son', wherever they were. He wanted to change the past. He knew none of this were possible though. In the distance, he heard hyena's coming. He got up and began to run, but then sat down again. He knew if he died, he could go to heaven and be with Saziah. He could apologize and tell her how much of a mistake he had made and how wrong he was. He could watch his family grow up from above. He could be where there was no harm. The noises were getting louder, and Scar took a deep breath. He knew what was going to happen. He was awaiting his own death. He would soon be unconditionally happy, and that was all he ever wanted. Not a place in royalty, only happiness. The End --Jenna 7/19/98
