Title: Nala and Nalaholics: A Study

 Nala.  What does the mention of her name make you think of?  Sleek, golden fur?  Slender, agile form?  Loving green eyes, the window to her soul?  That is what I intended to find out.  I have done rigorous research on Nala, all that I could've done in my spare time.  Through the Kalabrarian methods of name research, I found out this piece of information on the name Nala:
 
    "The name of Nala does create a friendly nature, but it is limiting as it causes you to be  influenced largely by people and personalities rather than by ideas or ideals. Using this name, you are  robbed of a depth of understanding that would allow you to view life from a broad perspective. You  find it easy to meet and mix, and can appear agreeable in conversation. However, you are inclined to be  dogmatic, and though you condescendingly go along to a certain point, others learn that you cannot be  told what to do and you seldom change your mind once it is made up. This name creates conditions  that are restricting and will prevent you from having the luxuries you would like. The physical  weaknesses of this name are centered in the fluids of the body and the senses of the head, causing  headaches, eye, teeth, or severe sinus conditions; also, kidney or bladder weaknesses."

 From this piece of information, we can deduce that Nala does, in fact, "play favorites," and that could be the reason for accompanying him to challenge Scar at Pride Rock.  I do not say that this is the only reason, just suggest that it may have contributed to her decision to help Simba.  He himself told her that she didn't have to go through with it if she didn't want to.  She did anyway.  This indicates a strong will.
 
 This tidbit also confirms what TLK fans and Nalaholics have known from the start--  Nala is friendly.  Very friendly.  She could most likely convince anyone of anything, given proper time and resources.  It also says that Nala "cannot be told what to do and [she] seldom changes her mind once it is made up."  Some may disagree, thinking that this is a slur on Nala, claiming that she is "hardheaded."  In no way is that assumption correct.  This, in fact, goes to reinforce the statement that Nala has a strong will.  She always gets her way.
 
 This brings up another point.  If Nala always gets her way, could this mean that she had manipulated Simba?  It is possible, however improbable as it may sound.  Why was Nala in the jungle right when and where Simba was?  Could it be that some clairvoyance or omnicience was at work?  That is for you to decide.  Whatever the case may be, Nala convinced Simba to go back to Pride Rock.  Could it be that she is the one who convinced Simba to be her mate?
 
 Again, unusual, yes; unlikely, not quite.
 
 Thus, Nala can, in a sense, be considered "manipulative."  Could that be part of the reason why she has captivated the hearts of so many fans of TLK today?  Very possibly, yes.  Some "Nalaholics" may "lust" after Nala.  This is disgusting and uncouth, and these people are not true Nalaholics.  I will now define, for the entire TLK community, and the world, what a Nalaholic is.
 
 Nalaholic- Nah-lah-HAW-lick- (noun)- One, whether it be male OR female, who is drawn to the character of Nala.  A Nalaholic feels they can identify with Nala in certain ways, and therefore find her a more than suitable friend.  A Nalaholic does not see the lioness as a "sex toy," (yes, I said SEX in this essay, so sue me.  Sex is natural,) but that is incorrect.  Those people see her as a one-dimensional; a nymph, if you will, with a mind only for sex and physical pleasure.  A Nalaholic sees all sides of Nala; the sharpness of mind and wit, the cunning, sophisticated yet tender and loving attitude, and finally, the superficial, physical beauty.  A Nalaholic is not one who LUSTS for Nala.  A Nalaholic is one who LOVES Nala, not for her sexuality, but for her personality.
 
 How, then, can you tell if someone is a Nalaholic or a Nymphoholic?  The theory is quite simple.  The key words are SEXuality and PERSONality.  Those who are Nymphoholics see Nala only for her gender, her SEX, and an object of physical gratification.  Only those who are true Nalaholics realize that Nala is a living, breathing PERSON, with a mind of her own, not some "twitter-brained bimbo lioness that'll do whatever I tell her."
 
 And so, my studies come to a close.  Some may say, "This can't be an essay, it's too short!"  An essay is not measured of length, but of content, and I have only written the most important information I found in my studies.  I think the message of this essay is universal, however.  I will leave the assumptions to be made by the reader, YOU.
 
    In closing, I would just like to say that I hope this essay has helped you to further your knowledge on the subject of Nala and Nalaholics.  If any content of this essay has offended you, it is purely unintentional.  In no way am I an expert on this subject, and in no way do I claim to be.  I am a simple Nalaholic, stating the facts as I know them, and sharing them with the world.  What you make of them is up to you.
